Default Aftermarket Steering wheel...

Does anyone on this board have the steering wheel that you can take off and walk around with it when your finish driving? The steering wheel is almost like the Nascar ones that they put on before each race. It's the magazines like Super Street but I just wanted to know if anyone on this board has it and do you like it. Do you ever think of driving and then it just snapping off by accident .

I would definitely NOT do this for the street. The quick release hub is available from SPARCO and other sources. It does require either their steering wheel or one drilled to match the pattern on the hub. Another thing- you will lose the use of the horn in most cases unless you make up a cable for it. I have seen one used on a street rod application on one of the customizing shows on TNN and SPEED Channel-might want to do a search.

talk to my good 'ol buddy poison on here. He has one and still has his horn with it. I forgot where he got it from but, you can take it off with a key and take it with you. Very helpful for theft protection.

I've got a TecniqAuto snap-off system on my crx. It's got a locking mechanism that lets you lock it in with a key, and to take it off, you pull out on two tabs, and presto, the wheel's off. It keeps the horn working, btw.

Website's http://www.techniqauto.com - they're in Canada (so speak slowly ), but their customer service was great. I've got a Momo, btw, and for that, you need their hub, if I remember correctly. I'd recommend it!

Yeah I 've had it on my Si since '96. It's by GRANT and it goes for about $100 plus $25 for the adapter hub. Never had a problem with it. It locks into place with a spring-loaded star-shaped male/female piece and has a fail-safe key that further lock/unlocks the wheel to prevent any unauthorized removal.

Grant has a wide variety of wheels to choose from www.grantproducts.com Also try SUMMIT or JEGS. I've also put other manufacturer wheels on the Grant kit by making an adapter plate.

I have on the CRX. It's not locked or anything, it just snaps on, then you pull on the hub and it snaps back on.

it works well, especially since it's such a pain in the *** to get in and out of the car with the cage and all.

but I also have an aftermarket steering wheel. I'm not sure how well it'd work with the stocker.

Pics (sorry about the focus...the camera always focuses on the wrong thing..)
