Default 97 accord power windows/locks problem

My mother-in-law has a 97 Accord, i think its an EX. Well the power window switch and power lock switch ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR is malfunctioning for some reason.

On the PW switch, only the drivers side front/rear windows will go up/down. The passenger side switches do nothing.

The PL switch on the drivers door does nothing, for any door.

Each window/lock, on each door, will fuction properly, just not from the drivers side door switch.

Supposedly this happened after the battery was removed, then replaced. I've checked all fuses and wiring in the drivers door panel. Im leaning towards a relay maybe?

The switch might be busted for the windows. I had a similar issue with about the same problems.

For the locks I'm not sure if they are also connected to that master switch there (I don't think so, but I'm not certain). Might also want to try checking that and make sure the motor for the lock isn't busted.

The power lock switch and the master window switch on the driverside door are SEPERATE from each other.

How could the removal/install of the battery cause the window and lock switch to go faulty? No connectors are loose, nothing is frayed/cut, i dont know whats goin on.

Test a different switch on the circuit and see if it works.

As a side note, there is a policy to not bump your thread 10,000 times in a single day. No wonder you have 3000 posts in a year.

Alright, thanks for the help.

Side note, 3 times in one day over a 3 hour course is not very much. Followed by 2 bumps the following day.

Dont worry about my post count.

Update

Replaced the master window and lock switch on driver's door. STILL having the same issue when the new one is plugged in.

Now we are having another problem. NONE of the switches work on the master switch...also, the windows will roll up/down on their own, without pressing any button.

I've called the dealer, was told that the power lock switch is related to the power window master switch. So if one goes out, the other goes out. I am completely lost. I have no idea what happened and I am finding no help.

-Doors lock from passenger switch.
-Each window switch works individually.
-No keyless entry. (mother in laws car)

This all started when the battery was removed from the car, that was the story i heard. I checked all fuses in cabin and engine bay, removed driver side door panel, everything looking good.

She got a new master window switch (did not include master lock switch), and when i plugged that, i had the same symptoms as before(driverside front/rear were the ONLY windows that works with the master switch).

Put the old master switch back on, and now NO windows work.

During the swapping of the master switch, the master lock switch still failed every time.

ECU fuse has been pulled to reset, neg battery cable has been removed numourous times.

im not sure of the windows but have you tried switching the door lock module? its inside the drivers door panel, an orange or black box. not sure if this would solve the problem for you but i recently did for me. i had different symptoms though. heres what happened with my accord:

my door locks started not to work randomly and then after a month or two they didnt work at all. nothing opened all doors, master switch, passenger switch, putting the key in, and with my alarm. so after checking all my fuses, i bought the master door lock motor(thinking it was that) took it to a shop and nothing...he checked my fuses and for current +/-. he opend up the door lock module and tested that too. turns out some of the leads in it had burned up and werent giving power to the switch or motors. i got one of a local junk yard and swapped it out and worked right away.

so after you checked fuses and replaced the switch and have no alarm to worry about relays...i think the module might not work anymore. again im not 100% sure, just my .02

good luck

A tech at a local Honda dealer said that the master lock and master window switches are related...he didnt specifiy how. I've already told my mother in law to get another master lock switch, i'll install it when she does.
