Default ef sedan frame and tranny question

91ex wth y8 head si tranny, makes a hissing noise, not really grinding, while in gear. Previous owner said push bearing? Im lost...

88 lx sedan, headlight housing bent up, could it be replaced? Or is it welded, i didnt c any welds...

EDIT: dont give me crap about the terminology, i THINK the previous owner said "push bearing", but i could be wrong.

Push bearing? There is a pilot bearing and a throw out bearing. Then there is also an input shaft bearing that could make that sound. When you say it makes that sound in gear do you mean while driving or when you push in the clutch?

Ya bro, im not that familiar with tranny parts. But it happens while shifting into gear and while costing in gear, not in neutral.

Is it doing it in every gear? Or just in certain ones?
If its every gear it sounds like the main shaft.

Its kind of hard to tell, but i believe its every gear, i gotta take off my front mudflaps because they constantly scrape...that causes some of the hissing sound.

The noise is MOSTLY heard while letting off the clutch, during shifting.

also, this is the piece i need, number 1. is this welded anywhere?

if the motion of th the clutch is making a differience then i dont think it would be main shaft.
Im thinking throwout bearing. or "push" bearing like you perviously stated.

I believe that the headlight housing is spot welded on.

All i've done is removed the tranny/clutch and replaced it during a motor swap. I've never opened it up and got my hands dirty. I'm sure i can do it, and i know i WILL have to sometime soon. But luckly, the EX isnt my daily.

Once i fix the LX's headlight housing/hood/fender, i'll be using that as my daily.

I dont know if the housing could be "bent back", i'll have to check it out this weekend.

now im not so sure... can you explain how exactly you ascertained a hissing noise coming from plastic mudflaps scraping on pavement?

more than likely your input shaft bearing is going bad. find another tranny

Because that scraping noise masks the noise of the tranny. So its hard for me to tell what exactly is happening.
