Temperature keeps going up and down...very weird
Hey I got a 95 gsr in a 95 eg. I was doing some motor work and took off the head. Then I filled the radiator with coolant and let it idle with lid open to get the air out. But I am not totally sure if I got all the air out.
The car temp used to always be a little less then middle. Lately I have realized that the temperature starts to go up(like 1/5 away from red mark) when I am driving. I turn on the heater and it goes down to normal. Sometimes in traffic it will do the same thing. My radiator fan works good. Usually the temp goes up and then down to normal. Seams like the thermostat opens and the temp goes down. Something like that.
Maybe start with thermostat?

hhhmmm... I think I still have the civic radiator
jack up the front of the car as much as possibleand purge the system, make sure your heater is on hot and fill away. be patient as this can be time consuming., gsr's for some reason always retain a fat air pocket just be patient
other than that thanks for your advice
depending on the year of the car you should have a bleeder valve. when the car is really hot, and the heater is on full blast with the vent set on recycle. drive the car down the freeway and get it REALLY hot and warmed up. stop at a gas station turn off the car and crack the bleeder valve open real quick and close it. it should spew a solid coolant out instead of bubbling. it shouldn't be opened for more than a 1 second. if it bubbles the first time, repeat(you don't need to drive it again if it is still hot). the bleeder valve can be found by following the top of the radiator hose to the block. it should pretty obivous. if you don't have it, get it really really hot and make sure you have coolant in the resevoir. it should bleed it self out over time just make sure you have coolant.
i bled my integra everyday for a like a weekend. letting it idle hot doesn't get it hot enough to get that bubble out.

whoops i didn't say it right...
i mean there's a bleeder valve on the head right where the top rad hose connects to the head.
