What's the difference between the jdm d15 an the d16z6
Hey guys what's up? What's the difference between the jdm d15 an the d16z6? I kno they say the d15 is the direct replacment but isn't it a 1.5 liter? I kno the d16 wasn't offered in japan but was just curious cause I need a new motor. I tried the search feature but it keeps givin me a 404 page failure code so I'm not sure if it's me or the site thanks for any info or links to where I can my answer
hey man i have a d15b honestly from what i understand the d15b has 10 more hp at the flywheel but it is confusing because the d16z6 head gasket is the exact same as the d15b so only thing i guess is the casting the pistons are different sizes but a z6 head works with a d15 ...honda bs in my opinion
Yea that is confusing lol I just don't want to replace my motor with a smaller one ya kno lol it's like havin a 350 v8 an replacing it with a 289 an sayin it's the same thing that's why I'm wonderin what the difference is if it's just a casting mark then I'm all over it cause I need a new heart
The d15b VTEC is a 1.5 motor, but it has a longer rod length resulting in a longer stroke. So it has around ten more HP. They both use the p08 head which is why they are interchangable.
Personally I would go with the D15B. that's what I wanted but i ended up with a z6.
Has a tad stronger of a block, better for boost.

I'm not worried about boost cause I'm not goin turbo what I mainly want is to replace the stock motor with the same thing as I have now cause I don't want problems with Cali smog. I just wanted to kno what the main differences are an if I won't have any problems with gettin it smogged
