i got my hawk pads for less than $60 from a local tuner/aftermarket shop. if your really strapped for cash i'd go to autozone and get which ever pads come with the lifetime warranty. i lol sometimes when i see/hear people brag about running "x brand" pads, but cant tell you the last time they changed their rotors, bled the brake fluid, checked lines, etc. cheap pads arent really a huge issue if you have good rotors and relatively clean fluid. i ran the basic autozone pads on my accord (~3000lbs) with no abs, chrome 18" wheels and never had an issue stopping.

If you can't afford the parts you might want to think about a different hobby.

Run the best pads you can afford, and remove as much weight from the car as you can if you're concerned about stopping better on a budget.

15 minutes to jack up the car, take the wheels off, change pads, check fluid, and put wheels back on? damn i move slow. it takes me a solid 20.

this. ceramic pads with good rotors and fluid and you should have no problem braking. just make sure you arent running on slicks...

I prefer to have cermic, the cost doesnt bug me too much, I like not haveing my wheels coverd in dust, so the extra bit is well worth it.

When I'm broke I just try to get oem parts, getting cheap parts especially for brakes is never good. Not to me anyways.

Right now I have oem pads on brembo blanks, with new motul dot 4 fluid. And my brakes work great.

Having new/high temp fluid is just as important and good pads. Especially if your gonna auto-x

i've always put some autozone, advance, whichever i feel is a better brand than the other, gtfo if all im gonna is DD with 80$ racing pads (when i'm high WHP, ill probably start using them)

but a stock z6 does fine with duralast gold, wagner brake pads (given rotors are properly resurfaced, calipers, and brake fluid/pressure is good) work fine for DD

IMO
