Whats wrong with my brakes? Do I need to change out the pads and rotors or is the problem something else? Here are some pics:

-Notice all the brake residue which is only on one of my wheels. When I brake there are very loud scraping & squealing noises coming from my brakes but predominantly from this wheel.
-Here are also pics of what my other 3 brakes look like.

Thanks for the help.

looks like you need new rotors bro! while you're at it, do the pads too, cuz you don't want to use old pads on a new rotors. I just had to replace mine and your rotors look a lot worse than mine. My front driver side started to make very uncomfortable noise triggered by brake and replacing the fronts got rid of noise completely. GL!!!

^haha, mine was almost identical to yours..., bought my ep3 with just under 79k miles, currently just below 83k, previous owner gave me receipt for new break pad install, but no rotor resurfacing or new rotor install...

it could be many things, but some of the common ones are that the slide pins not being lubed properly, a caliper issue, and/or even a caliper hose... or maybe your breaking habit... j/k...
True..., but for time being, since rotors & pads replace can be DIY, consider that option... If you're not sure, go to someone you trust in your area and seek for their help. Or go to stealership and see what they say.

I will try replacing the pads and rotors myself it doesnt seem that hard.
Can you please elaborate more on the caliper and/or hose issues? Calipers are really pricey to replace I really hope it doesnt come to that.
thanks
check this out:

Just clean it and lube it while replacing rotors and pads. The above link has some vids to show you how. Not sure about the hose issue, but when you put a lot of miles on your car and for you, drive in east coast with snow and rain, rust or some other debries of some sort might get in between pads and rotors..., or spring&pin on the calipers may need some lubing as well. prolly gonna do same thing to your new pads & rotors, but not sure how or what in short/long terms... not sure what condition they are in??? You may just need to replace the pads/rotors and not have any further issue.

Thanks for all the replies. I will be getting new rotors and pads to see if that fixes the problem.
Does anyone know how to replace the seals on the REAR calipers? I found a DIY for the FRONT calipers but I hear the REAR are much harder to do because of the hand brake mechanism.

Is the boot cracked for any of the slide pins? If so that is most likely your issue.
I would repair this asap because if you dont lube your slide pins they will seize. This happened to my del sol, which equals a new caliper.

mref4dr gave you some good advice. same thing happened to my rear callipers, on both sides. I greased up the sliding pins in the caliper and replaced the rotor, sanded down the pads slightly and have not had a problem since. Main cause of this seems to be lack of grease in the sliding pins. Hope that helps.
