Default bent rod?

ok Im in the process of rebuilding my motor and the reason Im rebuilding the motor in the first place is caused by a dropped valve, now my question after a dropped valve how often does a rod get bented? From the looks of it, its fine, eagle rods btw, I just want to reuse what I have to save some cash, is there a way to check?

yea you can compression test and see if the cylinder that the valve dropped in turns out lower than the rest, or you could take out all the spark plugs and sitck a long screw driver into the cylinder and slowly turn the crank and check the tdc height of each cylinder to see if they are all the same.

well the motor is apart and ready to be put back together, block is done and crank is polished, Im just wondering if the rod was bent when the valve dropped, rod looks good, doesnt looked bent to me but when I took off the damaged piston the pin was a lil harder to take out then the rest, people say it takes a lot to bent a rod is that true?

Eagle rods? Probably not bent, I would reuse them, but I won't tell you to take that risk though. Judgement call on your part.

i would maybe have a machine shop check it out. its hard to say whether it was tweaked at all just by looking at it with the naked eye

shouldn't. they'll probably just measure them... that's what i would do. just measure a good rod from the inside of the wrist pin hole to the inside of the crank journal with a dialed caliper then compare the measured results with the rod from the damaged cylinder. however you should deff. take it to a machine shop if you are unsure of your self.
