Default Just picked up my first Del Sol today

After selling my 1990 Si Hatch I decided I wanted something a little newer w/AC lol. I really wanted a two seater w/rear wheel drive. Looked at some Miata's but with me being 6'4", I don't fit too well and with a small budget I wasn't able to pay for an overpriced Miata. I then found this beauty and decided why the hell not? I know it's not rear wheel drive but I can fit in it a lot better and it gets the job done.

It's 1993 Del Sol S (base model sadly). Completely stock.

The guy I bought it from said the paint was pretty fresh.

It was rainy all day but I was able to take the top off later in the night when it stopped for a bit. So much fun.

The driver's side corner headlight is broken, any idea how much a new one costs?

P.S. This thread will probably have little to no tech, let me know if I need to move it.

Oh and heres a set of corner lights on ebay, you're better off just getting a new set. Didnt see any single driver side ones for less than forty bucks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DEL-S...Q5fAccessories

Hey thanks for the replies, for some reason it wasn't letting me see anyone replied for a while.

My future plans are minimal. Probably just gonna get some new suspension. I've had my eye on some Function Form type 1's. Will probably get a k&n airbox filter. I prefer them over the crazy AEM cold air systems. After it's lowered, I was thinkin maybe gettin' some GSR blades cause I think they look sick on Del Sol's. We'll see. I'm pretty happy with it right now though.

@95soul: I was pretty surprised about the acceleration with that d15b7! I had one in my EF and it barely went anywhere so when I drove this car I was ready for a slow *** car but it actually is quite competent! Revs all the way to 6500 with no problem. I love it. How many miles does yours have? Mine needs the panel that hides the radio! Thanks for the link, I'll probably just get amber ones

Yeah The d15b7 isnt a bad motor, I just wished it could rev a little higher. I've found that when I'm driving aggresivly, 5900 rpm is the sweet spot for acceleration. Mine has 180,000 miles, and still going strong. Doesnt burn any oil or anything that would indicate engine wear. I'm willing to bet that my motor could make it past 300,000 miles, with proper maintainence that is. oh and You could probably find that radio panel at a junkyard.

Thanks guys!

It's still raining today. I was hoping it might clear up so I can give her a bath and take some better pictures. The interior looks great except for a minor stain on the passenger seat.

I'm wondering why my valve cover looks like the d16a6 valve cover and not like yours 95soul!

I'll take a pic and update it later.

Take some pics of your valve cover. It would be totally awesome if you did have the mini-me swap.

I know it's not an actual "mini-me" swap because on the VTEC heads, the spark plug holes are on the exhaust manifold side instead of the intake side. To me the valve cover looks like the one from a d1616 or a d15b2 from the EF generation.

Here's some pictures (excuse the dirty engine bay, gonna clean it soon)

annnnnnnnd here's some interior pics:

The seats could use a good shampooing.

I just got hired on at Apple doing support for Mobileme, so once that starts up I'll have a lot of money to put into this baby.

Wow that thing is fresh! One thing though, those decals on the rear garnish should be moved down towards the bottom of it, wonder why the previous owner put them in the middle. Anywho, good luck and keep us updated!

Oh yea I didn't even notice that!
Good eye sir.

I had a CEL come on earlier today when I was driving. I was going WOT to merge on the highway and got it close to redline and then I saw the CEL come up. I turned my car off at the next stop light and turned it back on and the CEL disappeared but returned when I tried to rev it high again. I don't know how to check the codes on an obd1 engine but my guess is that it's probably misfiring at higher rpms so I want to do a full tune-up and make sure everything is working properly. In the meantime the CEL went away after I turned the car off again. It hasn't come back on since but I'm going easy on it.

passenger side footwell, near the ecu. there's a green plug that's pressed into a rubber holder.

jump the 2 pins with a paper clip or some wire and turn your key (power on, engine off) and your CEL will blink the code. look in the FAQ for pictures and what each code is)

i also own a 93' del slow... though yours seems more complete than mine haha

Yea I was reading that but the CEL disappears when I turn my car off! So I wouldn't be able to do it that way. Is there anyway to do it with the car running?

Yea for real, I know what you mean. Luckily with regular maintenance it should last me a while longer. My little brother has a 1993 Accord that has about 250k miles on it and still runnin' strong!
