I do not know what is wrong with my prelude. I just had the transmission replaced in my 97. When i step on the gas after i first start driving it, it lags real bad like it dont wanna go and then it takes off. It has started doing it though every gear. It was doing this before i had the trans replaced so i dunno if i is the fuel filter or the plugs or the cat or something can someone help me out and give me an idea to what it could be. I am hoping that it isnt in the trans.

 

Does the RPM go up but the car doesnt go anywhere?

the rpm gauge doesn't spike or anything it is functioning normally. it honestly feels like when first start out that there is something holding on to my car and then all of the sudden lets go...that's the best way i can think to describe it. it just acts like it doesn't wanna go then takes off if i get on it. and yes its an automatic.

 

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the clutches are slipping.

 

Sell it and buy a 5spd. That is the only answer to curing the sissy-tranny blues.

 

lol i cant afford a tranny swap at the moment....i changed the distributor cap and rotor button and put some ngk plugs and new wires in it and cleaned the carbon out of the motor and it isnt messing up anymore...so i dunno...thanks for the help

 

I never suggested a tranny swap. I suggested a car swap.

 

Lol if he cant afford a tranny swap, wat makes you so sure he can afford a car swap 0.o

 

Sell car for $4k, buy another car for $4k. There's no loss of money. I thought that was simple logic.
