I just got the car today and it has these little rust spots on the rear quarter on the passenger side of the car. They are like little dots not huge spots. So does anyone know any tricks to get rid of these? Or is sanding it down and primer and repaint the only option?

 

Is it rusted all the way through, or just surface rust? If its surface rust you need to sand it down to get rid of all the rust, then fill it in, then sand, primer, paint, etc. If its rusted through you need to cut it out and weld in new patch panels. Those are the only permanent ways to get rid of rust.

 

its just surface rust i believe, when you rub the spots it doesn't feel like anything is there so yeah?

 

well which ever it is get rid of them,that crap is like cancer for cars if you just paint over it it will come back^^^this gentleman gave you the best solution,good luck

 

just like he said do it right and soon dont use rust converter or the over rust primer it wont work and when you see it coming through the paint again in a few months itll be twice as big and 10 times as hard to fix good luck i hate body work i would rather do pistons and rings than sand rust and primer lol

 

yeah thanks for the tips guys, i have a friend that has a body shop so i will get him to do it for me. I ain't much a body work kinda guy myself.
