WTB a 00 R......does engine bay look normal?
Hey I want to buy a 00 type r and I just want you guys to look at the engine bay and say if things look normal

btw I'm not sure if its c5 but looks like it is
Can't tell much with regards to the motor/drivetrain, but the chassis is almost certainly a true Type-R. If you look beside the ABS unit, you'll see a circular hole in the bracket...on non-R models there is a corresponding hole in the body, which the factory intake pulls from. ITR's do not have this hole, and this picture shows no evidence of a hole there. It also has the factory studs for the OEM strut bar...another indicator that it is an R.
^ GSR's also have the OEM strut bar mounting studs. You're spot on about the intake hole though. That's about the only indication we have that it's an ITR at this point.
I would definitely get more information about the motor & chassis before bidding. Namely, the VIN so you can check its history and legitimacy..

Looks legitimate from the picture. Why does the engine code on the block have red on it? Does it say B18C5 or B18C? I'm asking because that is a JDM ITR valve cover and not a USDM ITR valve cover. I can't really tell but it almost looks like the trans has the green VIN plate on it, if so, try seeing if that number matches the one in the dash and on the firewall.
A red block stamp indicates a brand new assembled short block, purchased from Honda/Acura. Which is a good thing if it's the C5 that belongs in this car.
It may just have a JDM valve cover, or it may be a JDM engine. Who knows..
