Rev Limiter, No Vtec
Alright, I've done some search and haven't came across anything that lead to believe would be the exact culprit to my problem, so heres whats goin on.
97 MT Base Lude 100k Miles, had for lil over a year, had wires replace when first got car, plugs and oil changed couple weeks ago, also cleaned EGR valve and cleaned/replaced intake ports cause egr code and the p040 or wutever cylinder misfire code was popping up(only those 2 codes) so i did have codes read, cleared/reset, and checked again and so far everything is good to go there. But, since ive had car the rev limiter seems to kick in at around 6-6.5K and there have never really been any noticable signs on Vtec engagement. Ive always checked to make sure oil was up to par and engine was always running under normal temperature conditions and from what ive searched so far only other thing i havent checked yet is this vtec selonoid which im not even exactly sure where its located or how to go bout checking/cleaning it. SO if anyone has any other helpfull info they would like to share would be greatly appreciated.

do you have a CEL on? if there is no light, as you sure the CEL bulb is functional? get the thing scanned and give us a code, because with 6500 rpm rev limit and no vtec, it means the car is in safe/limp mode.
the cel does work and codes have all been recently cleared. I went to dealership today and spoke with their master tech and told him what was goin on and he said the most likely causes would be either the 2 solenoid assembly gaskets needed replaced and/or screens cleaned and if that doesnt fix it then the oil pressure switch might need to be replaced. Gonna do the gasket cleaning first, then switch, and go from there.
no sense in throwing money or parts at this. do as the person above suggested and diagnose what the problem is. have the codes ran again and see if there are any present. if there are no codes then it is most likely a mechanical problem and not a electrical. in example clogged screen on the vtec solenoid or it could be that physical oil pressure is not high enough to engage the rocker assembly.
tofast, you must have not read my last post, or any post of mine at all, ive clearly stated ive had all my cel codes recently read, cleared, reset multiple times, today before i went to the dealership i did it yet again, no code, no cel light on, that is not an issue, and i just recently posted, i was already informed on cleaning the gasket screens and checking the oil pressure switch, thanks anyway tho.
