Type R Swap WTF is going on
So my buddy has a ITR (k20a) swap in his RSX.
Here's the issue:
It will only run with one of those diagnostic computers plugged in (code reader). When its unplugged the car won't even start. What is going on? Could it be the anti-theft crap with his car key (immobilizer) ?
I have no idea what is going, I never heard of such a problem, lol.

Is the year for the Motor the same as the year/gen for the car? And i would say go back and check the wiring harness... Honestly though the code reader doesn't disable your immobilizer though...
Oh that explains it then...You need the Type R harness since its the Type R Ecu...Only solution to that would be Kpro... other wise your going to have to get a new wiring harness. And trust me mixing and matching can **** things up. We got a girl who drives a 06 type S with a 04 Type R motor in it and shes running the stock type S ecu and it runs like ****. She got lazy and has drove it for a year on a half without a tune. She mainly dropped in for Eibach last year and never got around to getting Kpro...Shes throwing so many CEL's and her car is running like **** but she continues to drive the **** out of it...
Yeah. That's a woman for ya. My buddy ran tried his Type S ECU and took it right back out. K-Pro is a must for K swaps. I told him from the beginning to use the Type R harness that came with the swap. Lets see if he'll actually put it back on, lol.
