b-16 in ef
okay i recently made a thread about many of the engines and suggestions and i was going to go with the ls swap but i guess now im going to get a b-16!
what do these engines come stock in?
would of it been better if i would of stuck with the ls swap?
i did some reserch and i read that the b-16 comes v-tec already unlike some ls motors that you need to put a b-16 head

b16a2 comes in a 99-00 civic si
b16a3 comes in a 94-95 del sol
For USDM, those are your options. You could go B16a siR I, siR II, or siR III if you wanted to spend the money for something JDM.
The difference there are of course obd 0,1,2 respectively, and a 10hp jump from obd0 to obd1-2 (both obd1/2 are 170hp.)
Pros for B16x
-vtaaaak.
-higher revving (more top end power obviously).
-great tranny.
Pros for B18a/b
-torque (as far as hondas go, this is pretty decent)
-stronger (most people boost these stock, rather than the b16)
-matching this with a b16 tranny will give you good acceleration, with good torque.
first off... depending on what gen b16 it is.. first gen obd0 came out of a jdm sir civic or crx and integra from 89-91... the sec gen (obd1) came usdm in 93-95 del sol... now obd1 is a little better because it is tuneable.. but all b16a's are vtec and are all around 160hp stock
great advice and info thanks!
and as far as the d-16a2 or a3 im not sure ima check on that today and ill let you guys know...
well on my ef i have a single came once putting the b-16 what am i going to have to change?
ecu
harness
and i think its running ob0 so how would i make so it can run ob1

To make things easier on yourself, i'de stick with the siR obd0 version of the b16a, so get the jdm one.
-Convert to MPFI(unless you are already running a d16a6 or another fuel injected D series)
-Wire up your EF to run vtec, i wont get into this, because i've personally never done it.
-Get Hasport motor mounts for B series into EF chassis (or another manufacturer)
-You need to get EF siR shift linkage, Hasport EF B series linkage, some other custom make linkage, or get some DA linkage fabricated to fit.
The main thing you're going to have to do is convert your eingine harness into a vtec harness. If you have the money, send your engine harness to rywire, or some other company that will do it. Places like this will take YOUR harness and add the necessary wires and label them for you.
But believe me, stick with obd0 if your car is already obd0. You will most likely have a headache later on down the road if you convert. You will be doing a bunch of additional wiring only to gain 10hp.

the best way to go is get a full drop out from an EF SiR then all you need is mounts and shift linkage (you can actually shorten the shift linkage by 2 and 1/4" or 2 and 3/8" depending on what mounts you use). then theres the wiring which isnt really all that hard at all. if your car is a dual point you will need to add 2 extra injectors, you will also need all 4 pigtails, then run the 4 injectors to a resistor box, theres 2 wires you need to run to the ECU for the crank sensor in the distributor, then theres the knock sensor, secondary O2 sensor, VTEC solenoid, and VTEC pressure switch.
or you could just do what i did and buy a plug and play conversion harness

I've not had enough to drink to politely reply to this jumble.
OP, search everything you need and more is covered.
As far as what you want only you know that, we aren't mind readers what's best for us isn't always whats best for you. So read and plan what'll work best, then do it.
