Default Valve Tic still there!

So I adjusted my valves and everything is where it's supposed to be but I'm still getting a loud tic when the motor's running. Is there anything in the valve train that is notorious for wearing out fast and maybe leaving to much play? I want this noise gone asap. Thanks

I'm about to do mine once I start this job at a Honda dealer where I can just do it after work, there's a great writeup on here somewhere that was shown on a B18c but the process is the same for us. If you have an OBD1 H22a best thing would be to order the newer style for the H22a4 and shim them with a hardened steel washer that's 12mm diameter, 2mm thick, it's cheaper than ordering H22a1 ones that don't last as long. <-Credit to Pirate for filling me in on that.

Also it just has H22a listed when the OBD1 and OBD2 heads have different length LMA's hence the need for a shim when using H22a4 spring types in a OBD1 head since they never updated the OBD1 H22a ones.

I've had the same problem for a while and it is sooo annoying. I have a OBDI head in my 97, so I took out the LMA's from a newer head I had in my garage and shimmed them up. I either didnt shim them up enough or the used ones were also worn out because it didnt fix the problem. If you have an OBDII head, just get the ones from honda. If you have you have an OBDI head, get the spring type for the OBDII head and shim them up with washers. And make sure you get new LMA's and not used ones like I did, it is a pain in the *** to swap them out.

^Then how do you explain my car that has virtually no wear and tear with a fresh H22a that has only seen vtec 3 times to test the wiring?

I swapped from a H23a1 and wanted to make sure everything worked right so I followed the Helms procedure for testing the VTEC system, 2nd gear, half throttle til red line.
