Default Bypassed Neutral Safety Switch, now no Vtec

The neutral safe in my 93 GSR was bypassed the other day as it was causing starting issues. Tonight I noticed that Vtec isn't engaging.
Would the neutral safety switch being bypassed cause the ECU to think that it is in neutral and revving without any load, hence no Vtec?
Any help is appreciated.
