Default 98 wont rev past 4000 after engine swap

My friend has a 99 sedan 5spd, and his engine blew and he replaced it with a engine from an automatic version of the car.

At first the car threw a CEL saying that there was an issue with the valve timing system's electronics. We checked the fuses, the ECU one had been blown, replaced that, and the light went out. Yet the car still still will not rev past 4000 rpm. What could be the issue with it, and the possible fix.

around the intake manifold...if you have a haynes manual on that car you can locate them alot easier and find out what color wires go to what sensor

can you tell me what wires those were... im having the same problem.

My car.
2001 Honda Accord Ex
5 speed LSD (Swapped from automatic.)
Chipped Hondata ecu.

**my temp guage doesn't read out anything at any time**-- could this be the issue?

could the car be running in limp mode...?

When i step on it, it will hit vtec and kick you back sometimes. and somtimes it will hit a imaginary revv limiter at around 4000-5000 rpm.

It has a after market guage reading out that the temp is fine... but could the computer be getting a misreading?

what causes this early rev limiter and where i could i start to fix this issue. it's annoying.

I purchased the car done up like this. Otherwise i would know what's wrong.
