Im looking at this hatch for sale. Supposedly the swap is not 100% complete yet. The kid who is selling it told me he started it with the civic ecu but he says it still needs to be "wired".He also said he wired the distributor already.
Supposedly the motor is all bolted in and the shifter cables are in too.
Im wondering if its possible to start this car with that ecu or if he is b.sing me?
What would I need to get this car running and driving? ECU ?
Thanks guys im new to this site! Hammer down

Yes, it would start up with a lot of different ECUs. But you'd definitely need to get the right ECU (OBD1 P13) for it to run right. Then you'd likely need to run wires for VTEC, IAB, EGR, and a resistor box for the injectors.
Honestly, I would suggest looking for another car; one that's stock. When you buy a car that is already modified, there's no way of knowing how well the work was done, or what kind of problems you'll run into. That's amplified ten fold by the fact that the car isn't even completely done. Sounds to me like the owner has gotten way over their head with the project, and is just looking for some sucker to pawn their problems off on.

I know a lot about dsms, but I am a newbie when it comes to Honda. I did have a 93 Prelude with an H22. I miss that car, 30 mpg and 130 mph. I figured that motor in a hatch would be even better than in the prelude. I guess I will browse the classifieds for that ecu, but I really need to get this kid to get the car running, I don't think its worth my low 12 sec running and driving laser as it sits.
go with a chipped p28 and eliminate the iab egr and knock sensor if you plan on buyin.
im still with spoon to a certain extent. buying a stock car is better if u dont no much about what your getting into

OK, so there is no way that car will be able to drive away with the stock dx computer right? Because that is what he tried to tell me, "all it needs it to be wired up."
Yes it will be drivable, but it's going to run like ***. The stock Civic ECU is meant to run a 1.5 liter, 102hp, non-vtec SOHC engine. With that, you'll be trying to run a 2.2L, 190-200hp, vtec DOHC engine. Your fuel and ignition timing maps are going to be way off. If you drive like that long enough, you're going to destroy your engine. So basically, just a drive it from the place that the car is now, to your residence kind of deal. You will definitely need the right ECU (P13 or a chipped P28 with a P13 basemap) to drive it around much more than that.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but are you trading your Laser for this car? If you are, then definitely don't do it. An AWD DSM is worth way more than an H22A swapped Civic that isn't even finished. Even if the car was finished, and in tip top shape, it's not worth it IMHO. Trust me, you'll regret it.

actually the h22 doesnt really run like **** with the p06 (stock dx computer) it runs pretty smooth. u just wont have a lot of low end power and it will have a hard time idling if it ever does. but i would get the chipped p28 or p13 asap. preferably the chipped p28
Those things would fall into my definition of running like ****.
i suggest for you to just buy a shell buy a h22 and do the work yourself... if you need anything for the h22 swap or any swap go to swapshopracing.com if you buy it tell them that burnykawizzle from facebook sent you... they have good deals on parts and actually have great service and be more than happy to help you out with all your ?
