Default power port dead?

99 Civic, the power port in the center of the lower console doesn't work. Anybody know how to take it apart?

Searched but couldn't find anything useful.

Did you check the fuse first?

Haven't yet? Isn't that on a shared fuse? I assumed something else would also be out if that were the case.

Broke my foot a week ago so it's kinda hard to get under there.

It should be fuse 27 (10A), labeled as cigarette lighter acc socket. If the fuse is good then check for power at the socket (yellow with green tracer). Then check for ground (black). If everything checks out then replace the socket. If you are lacking power or a ground then start looking for opens in the wiring.

get a test light and hook it up to your door frame and then stick it in the acc. socket and see if it lights up. if so then should be gravy often times crappy phone chargers and stuff just go out. i'd try a couple different accessories to see if its maybe what your plugging into it as well.....or if you want to take it off then.....

pretty much just remove the center console and driver lower dash trim and there is a screw or two aboce the socket, and open the glove box and one in the top left corner. total should be about 10-12 screws

I'm fairly certain the charger port is out. This is my sister's car and I know my phone charger works.

Thanks for the tips, will definitely tear into this soon.

Not yet. Between work, school, networking meetings, commuting, my gf, and a broken foot, it's kinda low on the priority list, lol.

lol get it fixed or it will be broken when u need it. This happened to me and i regretted it. I had my phone die on me and my car charger didnt work because the plug was broken and then my car broke down. I had a wall charger only and I had to get out of the car, lock it and go walk around until I found somewhere that had a plug.

well ya that was basically the worst day ever. I got my car tuned and spent the last of my money doing it. Then on the way home my motor blew because the oil pump failed. So I had to call my friend to come tow me (since I had no money for towing). And my phone just died, so I had to leave the car in this random mall (thankfully the people around there are nice) adn the security guard told the security that the car was there to watch out for it. The tuner came to me to look at the car and said it sounded like a rod knocking :/
Then I walked to a mcdonalds and waited there until my phone had enough power to turn on to call my friends. The story is so long that I am going to stop here. But basically worst day ever.
