harmonic balancer issue
I have a 5th gen prelude. ok around janurary i replaced the harmonic balancer. some how it came loose and started to wobble and threw off the belts. the key stock was completely twisted and the key slot on the balancer wore out. now i replaced the balancer and the belts. the car did fine until about a month ago when i discovered that my vtec stopped working and then sortly after that the new balancer and the new key stock did the exactly the same thing as at the begining of the year. now i have noticed that the key slot on the crank is destroyed. does anyone know why this keeps happening?
Sounds to me like you are having some larger issues that will crop up. I would venture that the oil pump is going out first of all.
Since you will have to replace the crank due to the key slot being destroyed, you should be doing all new bearings in the bottom end, and I would do a new oil pump at the same time, and make sure that you tighten the crank pulley bolt to spec.

be sure your torque down the dampener to the specs, and as far as your vtec check your selonoid. Make sure the screen is clean. Theres my two cents
