Sorry for this pointless thread but does anyone know if there is a write up for replacing a egr valve for a d16y8 ive searched and searched and have came up with nothing. Any help would be much appreciated b/c im trying to fix the car so I can get to work in the am.

 

might as well state the symptoms of the car. Car runs fine but when you come to a stop the car turns off. It is throwing a code for the egr valve. I talked to a mechanic and he said when the egr valve is actually turning the car off it generally means it is stuck open. I can not find any information about the egr valve for a d16y8 online at all. im very confused again any help is much appricated.

 

just read that ex/d16y8 didn't come with a egr valve? can anyone confirm this? Anyone ever heard of a ex throwing a egr code?

 

im pulling a code for my egr valve too. not sure if its just clogged up with carbon or if electronically, the valve is having trouble opening and closing. neone have any tips?

 

what do your AFRs read?

 

They didn't. The only '92 - '00 D-series engines that have an EGR valve are the D15Z1 and the D16Y5.

did you mess with anything in the engine bay prior to this problem?
