Default Need info on b16a1 motor

I bought this civic off my buddy 2 years ago and it's been sitting. Finally pulled it out 2 play with and need 2 know some info on the motor. I'm curious what motor oil would be the best, transmission fluid as well. (5-Speed) Not bad for $1500 but I am new to the import scene. Thank you much, any help would be appreciated.

Heres some pics of the car

Engine oil: 5w30, just pick a brand. This will start a forum war because it is a question without a clear answer.

Trans. fluid: Honda MTF

I ran 5w-30 in my fresh d16y8, 10w-30 in my slightly beat up d16y7 and now i run 10w-40 in my old b18a1.

I always use OEM Honda MTF

I personaly would never use motor oil for the tranny, yes it will work work, but if there is a leak it makes it quite difficult to find,

Honda says 5w30 or 10w30.

Honda used to use no-detergent 10w30 in their transmissions. Later on in the mid '90s they developed thier own MTF. No doubt for a good reason...

as for oil just use 5w 30, it's what's widely used and called for in a honda engine, tranny fluid
umm i use 10w30 motor oil, u can use that or honda mtf, try and stay away from gear oils with
weights like 70,75,80 ect although they won't hurt u none, they from what i'm told aren't necessary
for such a little tranny our honda motors use.

Yes.

Honda manual transmission fluid. It's a little expensive, but for something that only needs to be changed every couple of years, it's worth it for peace of mind.

5W-30 motor oil for your B16. I use Quaker State but who cares? It's pretty much all the same stuff.

it depends on where you live when it comes to motor oil. If you live in a hot climate then use 10w-30 or 10w-40.
