Default My first Honda...

Whats up guys. I just bought a 96 hatch for relatively cheap! I was putting 600 miles a week on my G35 Coupe and I couldn't take racking the miles up on her anymore.

So I bought this gem...

It has a few mods already and I just had the windows tinted today to stay a little cooler during the summer. I'll eventually start playing with it since I've never left any car I've owned alone.

Here's the G...

Here's my first question for you guys...

The SRS light is on and I can't figure out whats causing it. No fuses are blown and everything seems to be intact...could it be the module itself?

Welcome!

Nice EK

Anyway, for the SRS light. I know that Ive read something about the codes for the SRS. But you can reset this. Here are some links on how to do it.

SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) Light: If your SRS light comes on for any reason, then there is a problem with the SRS system. And when that light comes on, the SRS system will be disabled untill the problem is fixed and light is off. Now you cant go to autozone for them to check this code, it has to be checked by a dealer or any auto shop. The regular OBD 2 scanners cant check for SRS codes unless otherwise specified.

Now pulling the battery cable wont reset the light either.

Now if you happened to remove your front seats for any reason and didnt disconnect the battery before you pulled the connecters to the SRS module and now your SRS light is on, here is the link to the DIY to reset the light, that is if there are actually no problems with the SRS system

Both cars are freaken sweet. SRS light probably due to the person before you messing with a quick release steering wheel maybe?

thanks guys. I'm gonna pull the moldings off and actually make them black again haha. I'm gonna respray the lip black too. I'll replace whats worn or broken and just keep it running for a while.

and thanks for the input on the SRS light. I'll mess with it this weekend

Also, the SRS light could be on, because the previous owner could've unplugged it. Mine is on also because I unplugged mine, which I'm putting in a quick release soon.

nice pickup!

if you get a chance, color match the sideskirts (along with any rear lip or valance).

its a terrible trend on HT that people buy only front lips and typically paint just the front.

body match all the underside moldings and you'll have a finished product on the exterior.. most of the work was done for you

welcome.

thanks! I'm gonna play with photoshop and see what I like best. The hood has some dents in it and I might go with CF since i can get it cheaper than an OEM hood and just paint it to match. That seibon wing thing is gonna get matched too...I'm not a fan of the CF look at all.

But more than likely I'm gonna respray the lip, skirts and moldings to a satin or matte black...maybe...idk.

I bought the damn thing to be a DD and I'm already lookin at motors and other goodies. haha

motor runs good! I'm at 3/4 tank and have gone 125 miles so thats good enough for me...the G cost 55 to fill up every time and with my mods and tune I get roughly 18-20 mpg!!!

On the SRS light, I know that the 92-95 civics had the clockspring problems.
Does the horn work? If the horn doesnt work when you press the buttons on the steering wheel, in conjunction with the SRS light on, I would guess the clockspring is bad then.

the horn works fine, I did some researche prior to posting the question and nothing I found seems to be the case other than buying a new module which is more money than I want to put in to the car.

Can you just unplug the light? hahaha. I just dont want to see any other lights in the gauge pod. haha

Just take out the cluster and pop the light out, it's really easy. You could also de-solder it from the back of the cluster.

Congrats on the car by the way! I like that you'll be keeping the moldings/lip black, I love that look. Your G35 is also sexy.
