Very recently taken down as far as needed. All dings repaired and leveled. Block sanded, filled block sanded again. primered and block sanded some more, more primer and sanding. All moldings off car. Those that could be refinished were-all rubber pieces replaced after painting. Full color paint in PPG Lacquer with multiple coats of clear lacquer. More sanding and finally after curing for 2 weeks in the sun-buffed. What did this cost-over $2000 and that does not include body parts. We did not take the moldings off the hatch and replace them yet. All panels are painted inside and out.

 

repaired rust and previous bad bodywork, shaved side moulding, radio antenna, rear wiper, and rear window squirter. removed pinstriping, sanded, sanded, sanded, primered, sanded, sanded, painted one coat, sanded, sanded, painted another coat, and haven't gotten around to the cut and buff yet. But soon, hopefully, as I don't like the way the car looks right now.

 

i don't know about you but i love my hatch and i'm going for the whole SiR look so i needed to repaint it........but if u are looking to replace all the plastic parts for OEM look........just think of it as a new car in a sense

 

i put $3500 into body work on mine. I did the full job. Took her to the frame. powercaoded it. then i took the other crx i had and stripped it to the frame. So basicly i had to cars to pic the best parts from. Everything that was to bad i replased. It worked out great if one car had rust somewhere the other didn't. Then i painted to body yellow and put the car back together and powercoaded the underbody (take that road salt).

If you look at the vin one the door its diffrent from the one on the dash.

Now it looks Great. No rust no dents.

and now its going to the shop agian to refit the kit and paint the bay and some more **** 1200

everyone said i was nuts spending that loot on a crx y dont i jsut buy a new car- answer-

because the stopped making the CR-X

straight up i love rexes and if u dont own one u dont have any clue

 

i just bought my crx about a month ago for $1250, it had some driverside damage. did some bondo work, pulled the dents out and did the wet sand and everything and primer by myself. everything except the dent puller was around 40 bucks. id have to say i spent many hours trying to sand the bondo down to perfection though. planning to get the outside of the car painted the stock color for about $400. so total around $500 spent? fix the dents on your own if you have time, that way you wont get cheated with bad bodywork.

 

I repainted my first (yellow) CRX Champ White...paid $2300.

 

Paid $1000 for paint. No dings, no rust...a little body work on the jdm bumper. Since it was plastic, they had to heat it up and straighten out. Repainted the side moldings black too

 

I paid 1300 for the whole car color change and dings, dents, in between doors, ect.

Why get a new paint job.....just keep the primer......lol

No but for real...ive got a fully primered CRX now revamped and all.....fixed all the obvouis exterior rust...stripped the inside and painted everything with truck bed undercoating....then put all the interior back in but this time all redone in black....

now the whole car has been through what I call stage 3 of being reprimered and sanded...and fixing rust so its perfect over and over and over........I fig. Ill do this one more time...then wet sand the whole car and get it repainted all black....once Im ready to do a motor swap anyways so i can get the bay painted and everything else.....

I would also like to know how to remove the undercoat?
Also where do you buy the weld in replacement rocker panels..
Anyone have webpages or recomended books on how to prep your car to be painted? I have a guy that will paint and clear coat my car for 400 bucks, if i prep it to be painted. I want all the rust out!
So far she needs a little rear quarter grinding and fill (about 2 inches square on each side), but botht he rockers need replacement. (who knows where to get the rocker weld in parts? I have heard someone sells em) I can see that the rear bumper support needs to be removed and replaced. What other areas should I be on the look out for? I want her to be mint when im done...

i think i'd rather get a b18 swap than pay $3k for a paint job/body work...
