11.5:1 compression?
hello guys, im picking up an h22a1 to replace my blown h22a1. but this motor has mahle 11.5:1 compression pistons, scat h beam rods. is there anything wrong with that? and it comes with a fidanza flywheel and exedy clutch. how good are these fidanza flywheels? ive read quite a bit of good abouyt em i just figured id get an opinion.
im pretty sure they are aluminum alloy, but the motor is still fresh it was built a few years back by a prelude owner around here and he sold the car and had the motor still so. im going to rip it apart and check it out when i get it tomorrow.
If you're getting a good deal, go for it. That's a pretty healthy combo that is a good platform to build on. Sounds like the guy knew what he was doing, but as usual you will want to check over the motor. If they don't have shop records, you should consider putting in new bearings so you know for sure all your clearances are within spec.
yeah the dudes dad owns a shop and he seems like he knows his ****. im getting it for 500 cash he wants 700, but i know i can get it for 500. but he said the motors been sitting for like 2 or 3 years so im going to check it over and re torque all the bolts and anyway, and lube it up. so ill see what happens. i just wanted to know what you guys thought

OP... sounds like a good deal but you have to remember its a used engine. i would go through the basics and start with a compression test. there will be things to look for once you get it running like, oil consumption, functional sensors(if included), irregular vibrations, leaks, ect. i've never used fidanza myself but i havent heard anything horrible about them. i have a couple buddies who have used their flywheels. i can tell you they use a replaceable friction plate which is good in some cases because you dont have to have them resurfaced but you do have to purchase a new friction plate so often. and who knows how long they last, it all depends on how you drive. you wont know what kind of a deal you got until its running and running well or not. hope the deal works out great for ya bro. let us know how it turns out

yeah i checked out the whole motor and ran through it all and everything was good. the kid knew what he was doing but i had to reset the TDC and timing cuz it was way off. and isnt running right now i ran into a huge problem that im about to make a post about.
