2.0 or 2.2 S2000 - Who likes what?
If one were to buy an S2000 with intentions of mild modification (300hp to 350hp range) what year would be best? Go for the 2000-2003 with the 2.0 and 9k redline or the 2004-2008 with the 2.2 and 8k redline? Any other input as to which generation you prefer aswell. Just looking for general oppinion either way.
i personally think if you plan on modding to 300-350 whp... your choice on which car to buy should lay more in your opinion on other things that differ between AP1 and AP2... buy the style you like more, either way... 2.0 or 2.2 your going to be making the same ballpark horsepower when you add your modifications.
id go Ap1 for the more hardcore driving experience ;-)

2.0. AP1 all the way.
I'm a Prelude owner, I actually have an F20B for my car. I went to 2.0 liters for the higher revving capacity, if I were shopping for an S2K, same rule applies.

Their's no replacement for displacement. I would have bought an AP2 if the prices were lower and they weren't drive-by-wire. It's alittle odd reving to 9k for the first week. I had the rev limiter on my H22 lude set at 8k. Even then I only took it out that far in first gear.

I have raced two ap1's stock when mine was stock and i won both times. If you get a 04 or 05 they are not drive by wire. I like torque personally but you do get the higher revs with the 2.0. Both are awesome. Its all on your wallet.

the whole thread is full of fail... just get whatever year you can safely afford... then mod accordingly...

Worst of both worlds?
The 2.2 seems to respond better to mods and seems to put down more power to the wheels. Maybe that's because of the better trans gearing or something else....or maybe it really does make more power?
Don't get me wrong...I love revving to 9k, but if I blew up my F20, I'd probably go with a 2.2L swap.

There were also a lot of small issues with the F20C that were resolved with the F22C. Like the retainers or the oiling banjo bolts, etc.

ap2 can be cheaper to by an EMS for like hondata flashpro and do not have to make all the modifications like you do for K-pro..very expensive plus and extra 300 dollars or so just to change all the sensors to make it compatible.. basically more options with an 06+ i think..
My opinion is the first generation was the car Honda wanted to make and the second generation was in response to the weenies who thought it was to raw for a street car. Just my opinion, obviously I'm a fan of the first one
