Default 17X7 +40 offset on 5th gen. Short Answer

hi everyone, i'm trying to find out if I will rub with a 17X7 +40offset rims and 215/40/17 tires on a 5th gen prelude that's on H&R sports. I've tried searching for hours, but people start talking about tire quality and preference. So i'm just trying to find out if i will rub with this set up. Sorry but i'm not sure how much of a drop the H&R's give me, they are black color sport series. The reason i'm asking is, my neighbor is moving to Florida and wants to get rid of these for $100 with almost brand new tires. Thank you very much everyone.

Well I'm in a 4g but i run that size except with 16's and I only rub because of 225 width tires and really only if I have another person up front and someone laying across the rear seats(how else in a Prelude?). 7" width only looks sunken in if your on like +45 or higher offset, I don't know why people do that to their cars though, looks terrible.

no chance you got away with that sizing on stock fenders. I put 17x9+54's in (equivalent to 8.5width +48 in outward offset) and that was a squeeze. With +35 that's 13mm further out, you'd need like a 205 tire to make it fit with extreme camber.

i have pics of the offset engraved on the wheels somewhere.. and plenty of pics of the wheels on the car. let me find that offset pic.

its possible they were 8 inches wide, but when we got them they measured 9.5 inches across lip to lip.... which we know is normally and 8.5" wheel and it def. said +35et on the inner side of the spoke... i mean i run negative camber but nothing crazy...

I was referring to the OP's wheel offset, sorry, shouldn't have added the '^' in my post to confuse.

with an off set like that you won't rub even with a 225 let alone 215. you'll be fine.

"117" stuffs 225 with no problem with a similar offset, you could even squeeze 245 like he did just need to flare your fenders.
