WHO has the Most BOOST on A SOHC(d) motor
I have ran a few sohc's.. i want to know who is running the most boost.. so guys .. post what u got on your sohc..TURBO... I have not been beat yet.. im on 5 psi ... all stoeck evverything.. ... just let me know what all u guys have and who has the moost boost.. i want to run more boost.... ..
My friends old RACE CRX was running i believe 30lbs of boost on the SOHC VTEC with over 10:1 compression. that was back in 1998. Andrew Yang's Fireball CRX.
was running 10's back then.

well yeah , but we tlaking about a lottttttttt of money
i have seen a 30 psi H22 engine and it had to have the cylinders resleeved and reinforced, engine management, Fuel management, ignition and every single aspect profesionaly tuned ..... was a strictly drag car , and had tons of mods.....
a SOHC has less ways of tunning..... a H22 has an infinate tunning list....
also the D16 its not designed to handle that much power.... u will need to upgrade every single part on that engine to handle that much power.....
i will like too see a Street car with only forge pistons, valves, and springs and a compression of 10:1 handle 30 psi..... will be like 4 of july!

bleh bleh bleh "how much boost"
boost is dependant on these things:
internal strength of the motor
altitude
fuel
ignition timing
exhaust flow
turbo effeciancy
intercooler efficiency
cooling efficiancy of the motor
boost doesnt kill, improper tuning kills
there is no such thing as too much boost

Secondly, do you honestly thing that H series or B series was made to handle 30psi? I didnt think so. If youre going to run thta much boost, youll just need to pay more attention to the motor buildup, and build yourself a nice strong bottomend, then tune it properly.
30psi on the street is nearly impossible because that much boost s going to require race gas.
EDIT: I run 91/2psi stock block, with some fuel management.

hondas are not ment to be boosted from the factory. however their internals are quite strong. and the map sensor will (should) read up to 11.2psi just fine w/o throwing a code. once it does switch to a gm map sensor which reads 32 i believe
OK.. well i found out .. nothing much from what i wanted to know.. .. im running 5 psi on d15b7. i have a 95 talon intercooler and B.o.v. .. im running a pm6 ecu with a spoon chip for a b16 it for the time being.. (just needed to rev a litle higher)... and the fuel system is all stock.. and distributor is retarded all the way.. i have a crane stage 2 turbo cam.. and well i want to know .... what will i need to run 7-9 psi .... im thinking just injectors ..... also on the cooling.. im running a hugh alumium raditor.... with 2 fans on all the time.. never gets hot... and runs nice... just want to know what i NEED to do ... to keep it safe.. also i only want 7-9 psi for the track or street races.. u know..
u need to click on that lil thing at the top right of teh screen there sparky called search goto the forced induction forum and learn about the afc hack....u cant just use bigger injecters on a stock ecu with nothing to control them 5 psi is nothing at all really at best ur making up for the emense strain being put on ur motor from the turbo....good luck in ur quest of forced induction
oh i didnt know the post was only for street driven sohc's
YEs Andrew Yang's CRX was boosting up that high and was on the FEL PRO management unit.
IF any of you remember, it was on a cover of a 1998 issue of TURBO magazine.

Not a lie. My friend had a 11 second street driven civic si running 20 psi on a stock sleeve block everything else was built up. Not the orginal block to the car it was a 98 civic ex engine. I'll post up pics later on today.
