Omni 2K high build THE WORST EVER!!!
I don’t know if anyone besides me has ever used Omni products before. If not let me enlighten you on Omni. Basically it’s an off brand made by PPG which allows the prices to be cut in half on almost ALL products. I know in the painting industry this isn’t always good giving life expectancies of the final product, sag, adhesion, hardness, and so forth. But the price was enticing to me...I have now used 4 different brands of paint, Martin Senior (and other Napa brands), PPG, HOK, Sinks. All of which did a great job with adhesion...
With Omni the only thing I would say I liked was the basecoat... I just go done spraying their "Epoxy Primer." Everyone else that sold it was a multi surface adhesion product. NOT FOR OMNI. Complete surface prep of 320 and the product didn’t adhere (had to remove all the material.) 3 days ago I neglected this event and tried spraying Omni 2k high build. For starters it’s designed to roll on not spray. I used a 2.0 HVLP tip with 10% reduced and still couldn’t get it to optimize. The surface was 220 painted/plastic prepped. Well no adhesion once again. Again all other products I've used in 2k was a multi surface adhesion. So all of that had to come off.
I'm tired of it and will never use Omni again.

Why did you spray an epoxy and a 2k highbuild? That could be your problom.I spray EXTREMELY LIGHTcoat of etching primer on BARE METTAL and then 2-4 coats of 2k primersurfacer.I feather edge my bodywork with 180,then 320 before I spray primer on.Did you feather edge the panel properly?Mix the product with the correct amount of hardner? What went wrong?I used ppg's shopline, omni, deltron, and global products, and I never had a problom with any of it.What do you mean by "multi surface adhesion"?Are you talking about an adhesion promoter?
It really is all about prep, and choosing the right product for the right application.Primer is not just primer, there are all sorts of different types of primer, all for a different application. You cant expect to block a primer sealer,or throw a 2k primer surfacer on bare mettal. You need to know what you need for the job.
And what 2k surfacer would u recommend?
TIA
You use etching on bare mettal, then a polyester primer(for blocking),then a 2kprimer surfacer(I never use a polyester primer,I just shoot it with a 2k primer surfacer and block that). You can use spray can etching primer, but If your planning on spraying over a large area then I wouldnt reccomend it.You can buy it buy the pint at your paint dealer.Allways spray 1 light coat of etching primer over bare mettal(you shoul be able to see through it),then a primer surfacer.I would talk to your paint dealer to determine what product will fit with your budget.

omni clear has worked pretty well for me but i havent used any other product by them, and i agree to the above who said "its all in how you prep the area or areas....
yeah the area was prepaired properly...

285 sprays perfectly fine from my 1.8 Iwata. Maybe you're doing it wrong, never heard of rolling it on before.
dud are you dumb or do you just not realize there is different quality paint , that has nothing to do with prep , thats why paint has different prices , omni is a low end quality
Did you stir the can of primer first? Did you strain it? **** in the gun? If you cant get primer to come out of a 2.0 fluid tip your doing somthing wrong however cheap it may be.
The primer should spray out just fine if your using a 1.8 tip or larger.Yes,you can roll the primer on,It nice to fill in pinholes in the bodyfiller and it keeps overspray off the car,but you half to be carefull. You will need to do a bit more blocking if you roll it on.
Never had any problems with the omni.
I like to use the evercoat slicksand primmer. A good high build and its only about $85 dollars a gallon. sands nice too.

like I said, I tried spraying the 2k with a 1.8 tip and couldnt spray it. Bought a BRAND NEW gun HVLP 2.0 tip. Paint mixed according to manufacturing specs + allowable 10% reduced, strained... Its not sprayable I can promise you that.
Whats your problem? How does how expensive a paint is make it better for his situation? If he bought 300 dollar epoxy, does that mean it'll guarantee stick? NOPE.
Retarded post.
Look in the cup, there's a little plastic filter in there, take it out. See if that helps you.
I didnt take the filter out, but yes I know how to adjust the gun as well as the other 4 guns I have.
Also, I have bought the exact same product in other lines using the same preperation process and have always have great adhesion results.... The only thing I could think is I left the paint in my shop over the cold winter. Maybe thats the problem, however; the 2k can only be rolled on.
