Ok, well Im probably gonna sell my 2000 LS and buy a 92-95 hatch with intentions of swapping in a new motor. I havent decided for sure but I want to either go B16A, or B18C1. Between all the models (cx, dx, vx, si) is there any particular model that would be easier (or cost less) to put one of these motors in? I will most likely take it to CA to have the work done because all the shops in Vegas are shady and gay and I want to make sure it is done correctly. Just wanted to know if there is any particular model I should try and get as apposed to another. So far, due to availability and price it looks like its gonna be a dx (hopefully white) Thanks guys, your help is appreciated.

Well if all out performance is what you are after, try and find a CX since it is the lightest one out of the family. An Si would make the wiring easier, but they are heavier and probably a bit more costly. The VX and DX would be the next best choices after the CX IMO. Get the B18C and any model hatch will kick ***.

well, I have a VX. and don't worry about weight, if you want t light car, take a few hours and rip out a lot of crap from the car. But wiring isn't really a big deal either. I have a 99 gsr in my 92 hatch. Just use the gsr wire ahrness, and its really easy then. The gsr motor is proabbly the best to drop in for the money Its plenty fast, and it loves boost if you want to turbo it in the future. Type R b18c5 motor is good too. jsut more expensive, but still worth the money. What ever you want to do. its up to you.

 

also all 92 cx's are wired for vtec from the interior to harness near the firewall inside the engine bay, so all you have to add is a knock sensor to the ecu out to the engine harness and plug in the rest if you have a wire harness from a vtec motor or just add the vtec solenoid and pressure switch wires to the existing harness. And....vx's have the vtec wires there too...... im pretty sure this info is accurate, if anybody thinks not then let me know, cuz my 92 was prewired and so has every 92 ive seen. hmm, hopefully this wasn't too confusing

 

yup. its acturate. All 92 civics are wired for vtec and everything. my 92 VX even had the knock sensor waiting for me in the harness.

 

Good info guys, thanks alot. So basically it doesnt really matter what hatch I get, Im lookin at the same amount of work to drop a motor into it? Well i guess the part out of the Teg and the search of the hatch is on. Any other info is appreciated.
