Pics of my new Albins Dog Gearset..
Received pictures of the new Albins Helical dog engagement gearset that I ordered from Bullhead Gears, so I figured I'd post them up.. Replaceable 3rd and 4th gear dogs, too.. En route from Australia..
Ratio's are 3.0 / 2.0 / 1.39 / 1.09 FD 4.4

Now I just need a billet case for it..

That is a nice looking setup. I have there helical synchro gearset and we've given it quite a beating and its still holding up and shifting like butter so I'm sure the dogset will be even better.

As for the price, I would contact Bullhead gears, since I'm not really sure if the mods like people posting prices in these threads, even though I dont sell the stuff, I just bought it, lol..
For what its worth, I have a PPG box in my car right now, and it works great, never a problem.. This box is just geared differently for when I (or one of my pals that breaks everything else) run 26" tires..
As with my PPG box, I'll be using the SpeedFactory shift change holder in this as well, need to order another one!

so im confused...i though that straight cut gears where better? dont the helical push againt each other more than straigh? or is it the other way around..for 6500 i think i would go for the ppg or the liberty+billet case...even the mfactory dog gears are 4500 +billet case thats less than 6500..but i guess the straight cut gear whining is too annoying so if this hold the power props to u....now if somebody would post pics of the miller billet case...
In theory a helical cut gear should be stronger because it wraps around the gear, each tooth is longer and contacts the base across more area. But according to Albins the manufacturing process for helical sets is very difficult and precise, requiring equipment that most manufacturers don't have. I still went with the PPG because it was tried and true, but Im really looking forward to seeing how the Albins holds up. Being able to replace the dogs only and not the whole gear will save a good amount of money if you miss a shift and round off the dogs. With PPG if you round off the dog engagement teeth by missing a shift it requires a new gear and hub which is appx. $1200!
My money is on it holding up just fine even in the most extreme environment!

I love the albins set, they look well thought out and the replaceable dogs (which are pretty cheap) are super awesome. I've been saving for one of these since I can't afford the ppg plus I think the helical gears will be slightly easier on the case until I can get a billet case.
Yes, these are dogs, just with helical cut. Dog only means that it doesnt take synchros. They have both helical and straight dog gears.
I will be getting the K series 1-2 dog, 3-4 synchro and stock 5th all helical cut for my setup
