I just sold my 97 240sx to my brother. I don't have a car now () but my buddy has a perfect condition 88 crx si with no hood or motor for $1k. So I'm thinking on buying it. Does anyone know where I can get a used Si engine from? Around what should I be willing to pay for it? I'm not sure if I need just an engine, or if I need a tranny too. I'll find that out tommorrow though.

in my area they go for alot. I'm looking at ATLEAST $2k for a decent conditioned one. This one is in awesome condition (body has NO rust or pealing paint, I asked aorund for common places to check, and the body is PERFECT). I wish I could get a crx for that price. I don't even want an Si. I want a base model. All I care about is a nice body to start with.

 

wow a crx si engine costing that much? its scrap around here. thats why i got 90 crx si engine sittin my my back yard that im tareing apart.

 

yeah try emailing shops they moght have leftover ones, sohc's are easy to find. oh LAM got anyy pics of your CRX?

 

if the motor is gone (if if you mean by gone is that its not physically in the car anymore) then chances are that the trans is gone also. if you have trouble finding an si motor, ya might want to price a zc. sure it'll cost more but it will almost surely have less miles and be quite a bit more fun.

LS would be a great setup also, but i just kinda got the impression you wanted the car for just transportion and needed a budget conscious fix. getting into a b-series swap will run you at least 2k when its all said and done.

 

I've seen the LS engine for $800. I know a mechanic (15 years experience) that I'm going to be working for in a month or so once he's opened his own shop (he built hulk hogans supra) which we're looking for a location for right now. He would work on it for me for 100% free. I can get a deal on HASport stuff too since I'm good buds with the people at hybridgarage (Theyre hosting hybridhondas.com for me right now).
