Default 2000 DX Hatch NIGHTMARE!!! Need Help

I recently bought a 2000 DX hatch that seems to have some mods done to it. I am still in the process of going through it and trying to get the BS off of it and get it to a decent condition. I am trying to get rid of the 18x8 wheels this guy installed... I bought a set of HX rims with tires dirt cheap. Put them on the back with no issue. Get to the fronts and the calipers hit the barrel of the rim. What gives??? So my question is what type of calipers are on this car or how can i find out what type of calipers they are?? And is there any reason to go from the stock calipers to larger caliper from another car? What car has larger calipers that will fit on this car? I have been looking on the forums for sometime and still cant get a straight answer...can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

HX wheels don't clear the front DX calipers. HX calipers are a tiny bit skinnier that's why you're having problems

Frak. Well thanks for the reply.. I guess I'll be having some HX and 18" rims for sale. I had a hard time getting a definite answer on this...

I'm pretty sure you can just grind down the caliper a bit for it to work, or get some different calipers.

If I do grind down the caliper how much grinding are we talking about? Is it a few MM or are you talking CM or like 1/2" type of thing. I was not able to see how much of it was hitting when I put it on as I was in a little bit of a rush. Also do you think this is going to weaken the caliper or cause any other damage?

NEVER a 1/2 an inch

maybe 1/4 or 1/8 off the edges with a metal grinder

Yeah, just get spacers or washers. You can use a pair of washers on each stud, that's also depending on the washers side. I did that on my EX 92 4 door.

never use washers, you wont have a good surface and end up shredding studs.

ok so I put my order in for some 5mm spacers from M2 tuning. Has anyone ever used these products? Also with it only being 5mm spacer will I need longer studs?

i have a 92 dx 4 door, i have fat5s with an hx spare. the hx rim hit the clips on the brakes but no other problems. rotor sizes are the same for dx 92-00. so some one has swapped a bigger set of brakes. part numbers are your friend. list them and we will tell you what they came from.

yea man you gotta get 15" wheels on in the front i would do like steelies for now and sale those hx's or get hx knuckles and put them on the front and get rear disc and problem solved or get big brake kit in the front and get 16" all around like rotas are cheap or gets some works weds bbs old skool so they have a nice look and be used so be cheaper but rotas and drags are the fake knockoffs so those are like 100 a wheel cheapest good lcuk

If the brakes were swapped, they were most likely Integra brakes.

18" wheels? My god, I can only imagine how @ss that looks.

Ordered some 5mm spacers from M2tunning.com. Just got them in and they work like a dream. Used the washers for about 10 min but didnt feel comfortable rolling on washers. But everything fits perfect and no rubbing. Now just time to get these bad boys clean...
