Icon2 '88 DX, RPM's are adding an Extra 1k...

So my Speed cable broke a week ago, don't know how to change it, so I've been relying on my RPM's... All the sudden when I start the car, it says it is at 2,000 RPM, but in fact it is only at 1,000.

It goes back to normal display RPM from time to time... What is causing this and it is a simple fix?

Also, how hard would it be to DYI speed cable?
Thanks!,
Razster

Car runs smooth, no jerking or any idle issues, just the gauge going up an extra 1k.

Noob Question, is the igniter located in the dizzy? Because after reading https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/rpm-gauge-fluttering-2300995/
It seems to be a simular case.

Anyone know if this might be my issue? If so, is a Huco Igniter worth the $65 & w/o heatsink worth it?

Figured it out.
Disassembled the dizzy down to the bone.
Dumped it in Alcohol and dried it cleaned, replaced some of the wires and scrapped off the contacts. (MMO's some nasty rust off and have a new igniter on the way for $30)
RPM gauge is acting normally for now, but better not chance it and just replace it.
