I got a 01 integra type r with b18c5. When i turn on my ac the rpms drop around 200-300 and the motor stuggles to stay on. Im thinking its the alternator but anyone have experience with this problem or know whats wrong with my car??

check your Idle Up Solenoid, which has 2 positions. closed when no additional air needed. open when additional air is needed (high idle).
seems like it fits your problem.
hope i didn't put u off track.

The A/C just uses a lot of the car's power to work. If the idle decrease isn't too dramatic, it's normal as far as I know. My '01 ITR and plenty of other cars I've owned done the same thing. You'll probably experience the small loss of power when you're driving and put the A/C on 4 (full power). Another belt is rotating, more of the engine's power is being used for A/C at that, and it is normal for it to get to the point where you will notice/feel it.

could be a problem with the compressor, I think it might need to be clean and lubed. I recommend bringing your car to an a/c shop and tell them to put new clean new refrigerant in your system.
Says in my Haynes manual that idle RPM is supposed to rise 50-100 RPM to compensate for the extra load the A/C places on the engine.
However it also says the idle should be 550RPM +/-50 RPM. Mine idles at 1200 RPM and with the A/C on it drops to 800 so I have a more normal idle with the A/C on which I dont understand

My Type r idles at about 7-800rpm when engine is good and warmed up. It only idles at 1100-1200rpm when I first start it up and engine is cold. 550rpm seems a tad low to me.
There is definetly something not right with hon-daddys Type-r. It should still have a smooth idle with the a/c on, and not struggle to stay running.

hi i have a 2001 type r and have tried and replaced everything to try to get it to idle and not surge, i replaced, cap, rotor, iacv, plugs , wires, tps, cleaned intake manifold and tb, resest computer, changed fuel pump, fuel filter.... i even lowered the idle with the adjusment screw which seemed to help the most, i dont know what it could be...
