Ok so recently I've started noticing that smoke has started coming out of the exhaust and the oil smells a lot like gas and that leads me to believe to that my rings are bad. Also Ive replaced almost everything in my cooling system except for my water pump so that makes me think its bad as well.

and while looking for something to fix these problems I found a rebuild kit on ebay for 300. I know you get what you pay for but my main question was that H22A1 rebuild kit wont work in a jdm H22A will it?

id start with a compression and leak down test first. it may have nothing to do with the rings. the h22's valve seals may be going bad and leaking oil down the valves and into the combustion chambers. if you smell gas the car is probably just running rich. after those tests come back if they are good tune the car up. i woudlnt go jumping the gun and thinking that you need a rebuild.

Ok so I did the compression test and 1 and 4 were 110 and 2 and 3 were 120. after that apparently my dizzy decided it wanted to break so im having to replace that now. So im guessing since they were all close together thats good?
