1990 1.5 cars 100% stock.
-ok so i bought the car last week. it drove the 100+ miles home without problem.
started up drove it around a few days.. mint..
-no rain fall whatsoever. all of a sudden i am getting a no start.. then the car will start...
-i cleaned off the contacts in the distrib.. there looked to be mold on the wires.
-should i just get a new distrib?? any good sites for a cheaper one? also what should i check..
could be a weak spark:? (bc its getting spark, pulled and checked)

got the car to start 1st try when i got back from autozone with plugs. changed the plugs.. looks like its been changed.. i just dont want to get a used one since i would rather not deal with the problem any longer. im willing to pay in the $150 area for a new one with warranty. i will be checking egay tho
do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition to acc? could be the main fuel relay. search it and read more about it
you know what i herd it but the car started that time.. it seems to be hit or miss.. ill check next time for sure.... anyone have a part number, location for this relay?

I had the same problem when I got my crx also I replaced the main fuel relay fuse and it went away so try that
try a new battery. sometimes its the easiest thing before you get too technical. also main relay is in in engine bay if you havent touched your wiring yet.
There is some ridiculous advice in this thread.
The main relay is under the driverside dash mounted just next to the hood release cable, as was already stated.
I would say that the main relay is almost certainly your problem. You can order one from the dealer for ~$80, or you can pop the cover off of it and re-solder the contacts. I did this and it has been fine for the last five years. It takes no skill at all. All you need is a solder gun and a bit of solder to add to the joints to make sure they don't fail again.
Next time the car wont start try banging around the hood release -- it will probably sputter and fire a couple of times.
sounds good to me. im going to look into getting this asap. using the car as a daily but was up in the air about putting it on the road. ill be pulling the relay and checking the contact points for breaks. worst comes to worst... ill just get another relay. thanks again for the advice.. as for the battery.... title says it all lol.
In the meanwhile, if the car won't start for you after baking out in the sun, open the windows and doors and let it air out for a few minutes. Once the interior cools down, the relay will usually start working and allow the engine to run.
alright im having the same problem. but all the solder is there on the main relay. do yall guys ever have one that fails completly?
If changing the main relay doesnt fix your problem, try changing your ignition switch. Its a common problem in the civic/crx's. I just had to change mine today after being stranded at my brothers all night
