best stage clutch for my ITR
I just order a ITR engine and was wondering what the best stage clutch I should put in it. I have a F1 stage 3 clutch with Fidanza Aluminum Flywheels for ITR but don't know if I should put it in or not. Please HELP!
Well, other than stock, ACT 2600 is the only aftermarket clutch i've had experience with, and I liked it a lot. However, i'm sure your F1 "Stage 3" clutch would work just fine with your ITR engine.
Yeah, that will be fine...I guess they consider ACT 2600 to be "Stage 4"...most aftermarket clutches have model names rather than simply stages...but considering your ITR motor will be under 300WHP, you should be fine with "Stage 3." Usually people only get strong clutches when they're making serious power, such as with turbo applications...like I said though, your set-up is pretty basic, so you won't need a really strong clutch.
stock or something like an exedy stage 1 at most. there is NO reason to use such an aggressive clutch unless you are on full blown slicks and driving hard. ceramic and metal faced clutches also suck nuts to drive in traffic. basically on off switches. there is no feathering. a stock itr engine doesn't have the power to overwhelm a basic clutch kit so why torture yourself with more?

I'm running the Exedy sprung 3-puck lightweight unit. I don't think it is very hard to drive with. Holds my ~230whp fine, and should be able to support more. It is a great road-race/auto-x clutch since it is very light.
Paired with a Fidanza 7lb flywheel.

that good to heard alot of good stuff about exedy. I wish I would off brought exedy instead. now I have to sell my F1 clutch which it might take a while.
if your car is just stock then i would just get the exedy stock replacement as stated above. easy on the foot but still has some pressure and not super soft.
i ran this on my JRSC setup on my R and it was great and lasted forever. only reason why i switched to another clutch was because i went with a new engine setup

okay. I'm gonna put it in and if its too stiff then I'm gonna take it out
the weak link on the exedy oem is the TB. it's not really oem quality. if you slip clutch a lot the tb and or pressure plate may come apart easier than the reinforced stage 1. if you enjoy a stiffer pedal get a stage 1. if you want a clutch that's just like stock on your foot. that;s the oem. i've personally driven both, on an oem now for no real reason. both are great but the 1 has a more solid engagement and is better suited for racing due to it;s beefier construction.
i have the f1 racing stage 1 clutch in my R and after about 1000 miles it started chattering really bad and will not hold a launch from over 4000 rpm... i dont know if i got a "bad" one or you just get what you pay for, these clutches are cheap
yeah. they are pretty cheap. I research them and heard alot of good things about them though. that why I brought it and I brought the wrong stage. lol. the thing is the stage 2 and stage 3 F1 clutch are the same prices. funny huh!
