Default What would it take for my h22a to reach 300hp

Hey guys my name is Spence im new to the forum and I just picked up my 6th prelude, it a 1995 h22a, I just changed the clutch and now the motor is starting to burn oil, in the range of half a quart in a week, it has a few drops of oil on the bottom on the timing cover, i think its the oil pump. So im going to either swap it for a type s or rebuild it na or turbo. Most importantly I need reliability over everything, What do you guys think would be the way to go rebuild with turbo or NA, or type s and build? Second what all would I need to reliably make 300 to the wheels?

Seven thousand dollars and a mid-sized turbocharger,
and that money figure is on the lower end.

if you want a reliable 300whp car you should go the turbo route. if i was you i would invest a couple grand in the bottom end ( for reliability) and pick up one of those turbo kits that run around $3k. the na route would be much harder. we're talkin about a really good valve/port job and a top of the line header, big cams, ect. plus your at the mercy of whosever tuning your car. check out the allmotor dyno thread section and see how many 300hp na h22s you can find. theres not many out there but it doesnt mean its impossible. it takes a big budget and a lot of work. besides all that, a 300hp h series car is not really a street car either. if you want reliability leave it stock

A 300whp build can be done with a stock block. The setup itself can be had for probably under 2k since the only thing you need of quality is the turbo itself, wastegate, and injectors. Then there's the EMS system, I think north of 4k would be overshooting and aiming for more serious power. God knows for 7k I'd be pushing the limits of my transmission

Thanks that's what I'm roughly trying to do, and to the guy that told me to search tell me something I don't know, I already know what to buy to make 300, since u can't put 2 +2 together I'll explain, I'm looking for people that have a 300 hp h22 that they believe runs reliable and to tell me what parts they have used and the cash they spent.

Dagle and NirVTEC told you exactly what you need to make 300 to the wheels. AND YOU INSULT THEM? Sell your car and get a clue.

Na, he's insulting me.

He doesn't realize all the info he wants is in the 6th Gen Specific Prelude Forum.

Does anyone here even know if you can use a TypeS/ATTS engine/trans in a 6th Gen?
Did 6th gens come with Navigation? Heated-Leather Seats?
Man, we always lose out on the good stuff in the USDM.

7 grand?? WTF. you can do it EASILY for under 4. rods pistons machine work about a grand depending on where you do the work at. Then search honda-tech forced induction thread. i have seen alot of H series manifolds and turbos and what not.

honestly i dont care...i didnt catch on to his sarcasim until now...so my bad but the OP would prolly would believe him.

^and honestly i do know stuff. 300 whp is a very easy goal. BUT since he says he has a smoking H22a i recomended that he might as well go into the block do some work and b/c 1 its safe of mind to know you have all new parts. 2.boost is addicting and you always want more.

Wow this side of the forum is full of some punk rock haters, I never said I know this or that, I asked people who have a h22a prelude with 300 hp and to explain what they used for parts and costs. I also never said that when I changed the clutch it "caused" the oil pump to leak, why would you suggest me a mechanic haha jumpin the gun on an irrelevant situation, lay off the crack

while you're figuring out why ur car is scorching 1/2 a quart of oil EVERY WEEK - u need 2 decide if you want to go turbo or NA -
boost is a much direct way of getting there and further. A 300hp all motor on the other hand is completely different. you'll probably be happy @ around 240 whp
THAT'S WHY u were told 2 use the search button.
reliability comes with the thoroughness of the build...or if u have one the dozen or so magic honda motors produced every year - LOL
so if u searched, asked more specific questions u wouldn't get flamed and wouldn't look like such a NooB.

im guessing its his 6th prelude he had owned which is quite a lot so its little odd or op doesnt have clue which gen lude he has.

to the op, how many miles on it? do comp/leak test. if your dead set on 300hp as your goal, just get a decent kit which costs around 2-3k that is IF your motor is healthy enough to boost.

wow. I really hope you guys are punking the noobie cause you're bored.

and I really really don't hope you treat everyone else in the world like this.

and this thread is a really really really good example of why I never come on here.

For those of you on p r e l u d e p o w e r as well, you know me as betterthanevervtec and recognize that I am by no means a newbie so I'm asking you to please, bite your tongue.

If you're worried that the OP is using up server space with a question that's been covered 1000 times, ask a mod to lock the thread. If you're just in a bad mood then take it elsewhere. All of you need to keep your attitudes in check, including the OP.

ok ill make this short...if you want 300whp and you want to do it "cheap" then do not go na. it would cost you 2 times as much to do it n/a s it would turbo...if not more.

you can make 300whp with a turbo on a stock block and you will never get 300whp na with a stock bottom end.

pick up a decent turbo, and the associated parts have fun

but id fix the oil issue before you do anything

The guy probably told you to search because this is the 50000000000000000000000th time this question has been asked. You want 300whp reliably, buy a LS1 camaro. Otherwise, roll the dice with a turbo kit and your leaking, oil consuming engine.
