b16? what you guys think of it????
as some of you may know i just swapped my b16 into my 93 ej one! i have had a couple hondas with a newer ls, a z6 and now a b16. i think the b16 is the best motor i have had, defiantly the fastest. i just hear that a lot of people on here say they are junk/**** motors. i just wanna know other opinions on b16 motors as i am building mine.

they're decent motors sure. not much torque but they rev higher and make more hp. ls is nice though because they have a lot more low end grunt, but don't rev as high or make as much hp. nothing wrong with the platform, just depends on where you like your powerband at.
Yeah they torqueless wonders but you can rev the **** out of it I think they only have 6 more ft/lbs than a z6 from the factory. I chose LS/V because of the low end grunt
I have had both a B16A and a B20Z.....the B20Z made more power, hands down, and is more fun to drive. It makes roughly the same hp stock, and way more tq...and it's through more of the power band!
B16's are really fun... they're not fast, and they arent the coolest **** around but i like b16's because they are really fun. the market is huge as hell for them and alot of people run them so its going to be alot easier to get parts and they will probably be cheaper because the supply for them is so high. and they really can take a beating. as long as you change your oil like your supposed to, they will treat you right. and intake header exhaust will have vtec screaming.

i like them. like said above me, not exactly the torquiest motor out there, but a fun engine none the less. and with some boost, they run pretty damn good.
The B16 is like a badass D16. Certainly not fast by any means.

i own a b16. i like it. most people and so will i say a boosted b16 is great. i have a NA one so idk how it goes.
not much for torque as said but 82-8300 is fun not hitting it all day but knowing you can.
baby it and you'll love it. its no b20, b18. but its still good fun.
i wont say fast but quick. the short gears make 1st, 2nd, and a lil of 3rd fly by. makes shifting in first hard when you gun it since it goes so quick but thats why its fun.

All setups are different but to give a rough estimate I'd say mid to low 15's if you can drive your car. Like I said a rough estimate to go by

whats wrong with it??? general talk about a honda motor?? i dont see anything wrong with it and thought it was a great conversation starter! i love my b16 and was just wording what others think???
id say around 15-17s for the time. driver and location dependent though. so vary for your elevation.
oh and i'd totally agree freeways suck. so my advice, which i have yet to take myself, is buy the 4.7 .9 final drive gear. unless you like the short shifts and 4k drone that freeway driving is, or have a sound drowning radio.
it really is nice to be able to pick between building it only using 1k and questionable parts or 10k and solid parts. the joys of a huge market.

I've had mine for about 2 years and its been super reliable and i beat on it every once in a while,the trans is what i really don't like but its fun as hell driving it.
