hey guys i was looking into a rsx today, and it ran well. but i noticed a ticking sound coming when the car is at idle? i was told this is normal.. is this true?

and also is there anything i should really look for when looking at these cars.. thanks

 

Need more info on the ticking sound. How loud, where it was coming from, how repetitive it was etc.

Was the car modified? When you install different intake manifolds on them the ticking (valvetrain) does get louder, but there are ABNORMAL ticks you'll want to look out for. I remember explaining this to a local kid, he thought his was normal, but when I finally saw the car I immediately told him to shut it off and have it towed back to where he bought it. It was the NASTIEST valve-tap i've ever heard.

 

the ticking sound was comin from the head it seemed ilke. i looked at 3 rsx's-s and they all had the same noise. its a very low sound, and repetiive. doesnt sound like a valve tap though

 

and no the car is absoulutely stock

 

If you are saying all 3 of the ones you have looked at it is probably injector noise. I know both of my RSX's have had a little noise.

 

Also it could be the tensiometer...

 

but thats not a problem right?

 

if all 3 did em, shouldnt be bad.

 

you also want to check the gears especially reverse allot of people ive talked to say theres always problems with their transmission so check to see for any grinds.
