Engine Overheating d16z6
ok, on my 93 civic, a hose that runs under the distributor cracked and spewed coolant everywhere, so i bought a new one. however, it started overheating again even after i fixed the problem, and this morning i was gonna take it to the mechanic but now the radiator hose and another hose that is right next to looks like it was in a vacuum or something, they look like when you suck all the air out of a water bottle. anyone know whats wrong?
Pop the radiator cap and put a coolant funnel of some sort in the opening and fill her up. Don't forget to crack open that bleeder screw if possible. Let the car run with coolant in the funnel so that it sits higher than the engine. I usually let it run until the cooling fan turns on twice, either by itself or by holding the throttle open below 2500rpm.
You need to bleed air out of the cooling system. As for the funnel, I use a coolant funnel that's found at your local parts store or a clean CV Boot, whichever one fits better. That's where I would start since you blew a hose.
