friend of mine gave me a used intercooler, just wondering if i should scrap it, or if it actually would help to cool my intake air by using it on my stock b16

 

no it wont cool your intake it will just create an extra space that needs to fill with air when you open the throttle, meaning throttle response will be hurt with 0 gain. Turbo chargers run very hot thats why there is value in cooling the air.
the rate at which it is cooled is dependent on the difference in temperature since the intake temp at the intercooler will be the same as the ambient air no cooling will take place.

 

Absolutley no benefit of putting intercooler for NA. Your trying to cool hot air with warm air when using boost. You won't be able to cool warm air with warm air. It only increases piping length and adds a measure of restiction beyond a round pipe.

another thought...why do ppl buy fans for their house?..why would you want the same temp air blowing on you if it doesnt make you any cooler?

Fans cool people because they cause evaporation of sweat. Evaporation cools humans, that's why God made us sweat. Your car on the other hand, does nothing of the sort. Sorry to burst your bubble.

 

yes i know about sweat and all that jazz lol........but i dont sweat when im laying down sleepin, yet my fan makes me so much cooler. so if you turn a fan on in a room, the temp WILL NOT drop 1 degree? seriously, i dont know, will it or not?

 

TECHNICALLY, it will get warmer, as the fan motor creates heat. This is very negligible though. You are sweating, just not enough to notice.

People use cold air intakes because you can pull cooler air from the bumper location, which is usually where a cold air filter mounts, then the engine bay.

Cold air intakes are better then short ram intakes because usually with short ram intakes the air filter sits in the hot engine bay and is relatively close to the radiator fan, so when you fan kicks on, the short ram pulls that hot radiator fan air in and increases the Intake temps. This is why people use cold air intakes.

 

CAIs are a waste of money...my throttle response is much better with my factory airbox.
As for your sheets turning brown, sounds like you need to use a shower. Your skin does more than sweat, it produces oils as well, which is what gets transferred to your sheets...now whos the dumbass?

i never got the point of a cai because the manifold plenum is pretty hot and when the air gets there it pretty much rises to the same temp and it cant cool it down because the radiator hose is connected to it not and lets not forget it is connected to the block
