Default Terrible radio reception

I have a 93' Si and lately I've noticed that the radio reception is pretty lousy. With the antenna fully extended my reception goes in and out, most of the time not fully out, just staticy. Just driving around town the radio goes from clear to static to clear within 20 yards of driving. It happens on all stations, some more then others.

Anyway, is there any way I can fix/boost my reception short of a coat hanger or aluminum foil? The stereo is kinda old and cheap, but the antenna is still in good shape.
