got my 92 h22a swapped in but..
i'm getting a weird howling or harmonics or something... so far i've pulled the oil pan, oil splash shield and inspected.. touched every place my fingers could fit (i made sure my hands were clean before so nothing was left behind)/.. pulled the valve cover... fished everywhere with a magnet.. found some grit but that's about it... heres whats driving me crazy...

i've applied pressure to the muffler and cat, intake manifold when it makes it.. doesn't go away. oh and i should mention... its sorta random. doesnt do it all the time.. but when it does its at idle speed only... any slightest throttle makes it go away...
any help appreciated pleaaseee.. its driving me nuts.. i don't want to drive the car because the noise scares the **** out of me when it happens lol.
i posted this here because i need help with the motor mainly.. the car itself is a 1988 accord that has been converted to mid engine rwd, and this swap is supposed to be an upgrade from a 95 f22b2.
thanks for your time.

If all your mechanical stuff checks out in the engine, Id say it might be generating from the flywheel quiet possibly.
Check your valve leash, and oil your pulleys. Its hard to actually tell you what it could be with out actually being there.

yea i hear ya.. the direction the sound is coming from the engine itself... it changes from when to go front to back..
anyhow, for those who are curious.. i started a little build thread... here:

i crawled all over it last night.. i spun the engine by hand checking various things... i've played with the clutch.. the only thing i can think of is balance shafts since they spin faster than the crank itself.. i was told to remove the belt.. i will probably do that tonight as a test.

its been tq'd on there pretty good... 76lb/ft (stock tq isnt it?)
i ordered a new water pump, tbelt, vc/op gaskets.. going to convert it to manual tensioner as well while i'm doing all this just to be safe.

just because you torqued it dosent mean it cant come loose its no that hard to check
alright, new timing belt.. and i built a manual bolt tensioner for the auto idler pully... and i left the the balancer shaft belt off...
the car no longer makes the noises in the video, so i'm led to believe that it was related to the balancer shafts... i didnt change the water pump. the water pump looked very clean and had 0 play in any direct so its good still. i'm not going to run a timing belt cover upper or lower i can change it anytime.
i'm putting a fully closed belly pan under the back of the car to protect it from weather, dirt, mud.. anything i could be potentionally driving the car through.. so it shouldnt be a problem and make further servicing in the future much easier as the cover bitch to get off in the first place. and another bonus to that it will keep the bay very clean.
i put synth 10/30 in it and went for an easy drive stopping at service stations, side roads etc... checking for noise, and there was nothing, so i'm confident it was the shafts.
thanks for the input guys, i will be updating the build thread as i go along.. i probably will post a mini howto about the home made tensioner.
