your local parts store should have cv boot specific clamps.. sometimes you have to buy a whole cv reboot kit.

Some of those clamps work in different ways. I got OEM steering rack boot clamps, and those clamp down by hand (kinda like a metal watch band that folds over on itself and snaps) and then have little tabs that you bend over to keep it in place. I'm not sure if OEM CV boot clamps are the same way or not. Other clamps may require a tool to crimp it once tightened. IMHO the OE-style clamps are by far the easiest - no special tools required.

All you need is a vise grip to tighten the new clamps from Napa and Schucks. It is fairly simple.

Like I said if its already leaking out grease then you might as well replace it all. If there is not enough grease in the boots your axle bearings are more likely to wear down faster.

There really isnt any special tool needed. I usually cut the old clamps off and to get the C clip out I use two screw drivers and push it apart and take the old boot out. Then its just straight simple putting everything back on. Once I get the new clamps on I use a vise grip to pinch the little lump or whatever they call it together and that usually tightens it up pretty good.

i had this happen last year. i bought a universal clamp for 4$, cut the loose one, pushed it back, squirted in some of whatever was in my grease gun, positioned the boot, and put the new clamp on. they have instructions on the back of the package.
