Bosch O2 sensor threw a CEL after 5 days of operation. Will Bosch give a refund?
Okay, I am really pissed off about it. I bought this wideband Bosch O2 sensor off of Amazon a little over a month ago. The sensor seemed to be working fine for 5 days, but today I had a CEL on and the code was for the sensor.
It's too late to return it to Amazon, but I was wondering if Bosch would take it back? It cost me 170 dollars. Any suggestions?

usually Bosch offers a 12 month/12000 mile warranty...so assuming the amazon seller didnt have the sensor sitting around for awhile they should replace it
Well, as far as I understand there's no point in replacing it with another Bosch sensor - they ALL malfunction in Hondas. I just want to get my money back and get an NGK sensor. I have emailed Bosch in Germany and am waiting for their reply now...
I ran one for 2 years before I took my Accord off the road. Do you have a LEV or ULEV emissions engine? I'm asking because I'm wondering why you bought a wideband sensor instead of the OEM narrow band O2 that most Honda emissions require.
If you run a wideband O2 on a stock narrow band circuit your bound to have issues no matter what brand sensor you buy.

PS. The code said something like "O2 sensor operating out of range".
PPS. And why would it turn on only after 5 days of operation?! Did it take the ECU 5 days to evaluate the operating range?
OK so it was definitely a sensor signal error. I have seen people complain about heater circuit errors because they hooked them up wrong. I'm guessing that you bought a direct replacement WB O2. In that case I would hope that Bosch would refund your money.
Yes, it was a direct replacement (in the sense that I didn't have to splice it or anything, I just plugged it in).

If you reset the CEL it might take a similar amount of time before you see the same error crop up again.
Aren't Denso units OEM for your engine? They are for mine (F23A1).
It just means it operated within range (voltage output) for 5 days. On the fifth day, it must have gone high (out of range) -- maybe just for very short time.

Thank you for a tip on resetting the CEL. It sounds reasonable actually that the sensor may have gone out of range for a very short time but the light stayed on. I will try to do that today.
UPDATE: I have just reset the CEL and so far so good. So maybe the O2 sensor went out of range for a little bit and now it's back to normal. Time will tell.
