Default Minimum Honda-Challenge Weights?

I seem to remember seeing something about minimum weights for the 2003 Honda-Challenge. Am I just crazy, or did I actually see this (and what are they!).

We will be running a full season of Honda-Challenge in the Ohio/Indiana region next year (still looking for a catchy name other than midwest Honda Challenge, any thoughts?). Also, we are looking to build 2 and as many as 4 Honda-Challenge racers for arrive and drive to both East Coast and Midwest events, and all the endurance races we can find.

Any help with all of the above is appreciated!

Wouldn't it be easier to be the No Coast Honda Challenge? Assuming there will be a WCHC to match the ECHC, the NCHC would fit right in...

Weights are currently under research for 2003.

Collected some data this past weekend.

I feel so horrible after driving over OPM's scales. Here I am, leaving the Cobetto trailer, minding my own business, trying not to hit people, and all of a sudden here a CA-CLUNK and a metallic clatter. I see in my rear-view mirror someone coming over to adjust something, so I back up only to find out that I ran over their right front corner scale. He said it was alright, I just hope they are indeed that durable....

Mansier, what tracks will the Flatlanders Honda-Challenge be running on? I ask because I've been contemplating driving down for a ECHC weekend from Ontario but if there's events closer in the Mid-West region I'll definitely sign up to run with you guys if you run somewhere relatively close like the Glen or Waterford Hills. This Honda-Challenge thing is getting BIG!

Oh BTW, how about a Honda Challenge event at Mosport? I'm the President of a CASC club (Canadian equivalent to NASA or SCCA) and we could potentially act as hosts for insurance and jurisdiction reasons should you guys want to come run up here in the Great White North. Feel free to drop me an e-mail at dpratte4@cogeco.ca if you want to kick the idea around a bit.

Cheers,
Dave

We will definitely run a few weekends at BeaveRun, and Nelson Ledges. We will have an event at Mid-Ohio (hopefully a weekend, but if not we will still race there), and one event at Putnam Park. We may go to IRP, but that is up in the air. The Michigan tracks are a possibility, but we would need to grow REALLY QUICKLY to support the trip!

Also: Look for a trip to Mosport and Mt. Tremblant, more details to come!

I'd think you want a name that's clear as possible to anyone who hears it. You want people to hear a name and say, "hey, that sounds like where I am." Geography is plain and simple, your best bet. Something like "flatlands" is not as recognizable and understandable as "midwest" would be. What is flatlands? Florida would qualify for that....if you exclude the landfills!

Or the better question - where will the first international honda challenge showdown be held? Top two or three points scorers for each class, from each chapter

Why not summit? Great track and not so far from your region. That would be a great opportunity for a combined ECHC and the NCHC. Makes it easier for some people to run in both regions

Mid-Ohio
I'd vote against that. It would make it seem like we are copying the SCCA, though it is a great track! Personally, if it was to happen, I would recommend changing the venue every year. Of course that would require the formation of some sort of overall Honda Challenge governing board, which is a HUGE step.

I don't really know the status of any of the other NASA chapter's attempts to start their own honda challenge series. I just hope you all can find somebody like Chris Cobetto to work with, and people as dedicated as Scott and Karl to make it happen. As for a Canadian series, that would be more difficult because it wouldn't be NASA, unless they plan on going international. I don't know legally if NASA has the rights to the series or not, but there would be a lot of hurdles to overcome to make that work...

Not that I have a lot to say in it, but as a North Coast resident and (possible) future contender, I'll second that.
