Was working on fixing one of my bolt hole threads that hold down my valve cover, but i dropped a drill bit into a hole that i think leads to the block/oil pan. if you think it goes down to the oil pan why not drain the oil and just pull the oil pan off to get it out? pulling the head wont help you any there.

If it went down an oil passage then your definatly gonna have to remove the head. Its not simply a hole going down to the oil pan, try the magnetic wand method first. if that doesnt work, then remove your head. hopefully it didnt make its way into the block.

Bit fell into this hole, looked down in it with a flash light best i could im pretty sure to myself that its an oil gallery that leads directly to the oil pan...lisenced or advanced technician's please chime in... should i just drain the oil and remove the oil pan to see if its sitting in there? thanks

Just drop the pan...and weld a bung on for a turbo oil drain and turbo the motor while you're at it.

attempt to use a magnetic tipped stick first. that is one of the oil drain holes. i put probably about 1000 miles on my car with a bolt just chillin at the bottom of my oil pan... hard miles. only found it out because i starved it of oil and spun a bearing (that motor was on it's last legs any ways)

There is also another tool that I use alot it looks like a plumbing snake but has a miniture claw that grabs things when you push on the top. works great for nonmagnetic items.

Davidkak - that would be a lot of help bro, get back to me k? thanks!

millertime191 - i will do man when all else fails

Neuspeed373 - tried this one i bought at a local hardware store but it's not long enough the passage is too far down which got me thinking it's the main oil gallery to the oil pan but i need to find out for sure before i start ripping stuff apart.

thanks for the feedback

just do it. save the oil if its good.
otherwise its like 8 bolts and new oil take you maybe a half hour. and your troubles will be over.

take a small tube and see how far if will go down the rabbit hole..then you will have a better guess as to how far down the bit fell.
